Joining forces to stop counterfeit medicines

On 13 July 2023, a cooperation agreement to stop the counterfeiting of medicines was signed at the headquarters of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO).

The National Tax and Customs Administration, the National Police Headquarters, the National Institute of Pharmacy and Nutrition, the Hungarian Association of Generics Manufacturers, the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, the Association of Hungarian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, the "Immunity" Association of Manufacturers and Distributors of Immunobiological Products and the Hungarian Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers played an active role in the agreement, which was coordinated and supported by the HIPO.
„The most important value of the Hungarian pharmaceutical supply is that the closed distribution channel (pharmaceutical manufacturers - pharmaceutical wholesalers - pharmacies / hospitals) has prevented counterfeit medicines from reaching users. The aim of the agreement we have just signed is to preserve this value in the future and to maintain trust in healing. It is in the common interest of society as a whole that everyone should be aware of the risks posed by counterfeit medicines and make good choices when purchasing medicines.” – said Dr. Antal Feller, President of the Hungarian Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers at the signing ceremony.
